Bambu PLA Aero: Revolutionizing Lightweight 3D Printing

Introducing Bambu PLA Aero, the innovative solution for creating ultra-lightweight 3D prints. This unique filament is designed to foam at high temperatures during the printing process, forming small internal air pockets that significantly reduce the weight of the final product. It's an ideal choice for applications where weight is a critical factor, such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), aerodynamic models, and gliders.

Note: PLA Aero requires precise drying and parameter settings for optimal results. Please consult our detailed guide on printing aircraft models with PLA Aero before beginning your project.

Key Features of Bambu PLA Aero

1. Exceptional Lightness

Despite having a similar filament density to regular PLA, the density of Bambu PLA Aero prints ranges from only 50% to 80% of traditional PLA. This results in models that are approximately half the weight of those printed with standard PLA.

2. Adjustable Density

Customize the density of your prints by tweaking the printing temperature and flow rate. This flexibility allows for precise control over the weight and strength of your printed objects.

3. Enhanced Toughness

Bambu PLA Aero outperforms pre-foaming Wood PLA in toughness and impact resistance, making it suitable for models that require resilience against impacts and falls.

4. Matte Finish for Easy Coloring

The filament's matte surface texture is ideal for coloring, offering superior dyeing results compared to standard PLA.

5. Intelligent Printing with RFID

All printing parameters are embedded in an RFID chip, readable by our AMS (Automatic Material System), simplifying the printing process.

6. Accessory Compatibility

For best results, use with Cool Plate, High Temperature Plate, or Textured PEI Plate, and a 0.4 mm nozzle. Bambu Liquid Glue or Glue Stick is recommended for bed adhesion.

7. Recommended Printing Settings

For optimal results, dry the filament at 55 °C for 8 hours and maintain a humidity of less than 20% RH in the printing and keeping container. Printing temperatures range from 210 - 260 °C, with a bed temperature of 35 - 45 °C when using glue.

8. Physical and Mechanical Properties

Bambu PLA Aero boasts a melting temperature of 154 °C, a Vicat softening temperature of 56 °C, and impressive tensile and bending strengths, making it a robust choice for various applications.

Printing Tips

Be mindful of the filament's softness, which may affect loading and unloading during AMS printing. To prevent stringing and leakage, dry the filament thoroughly as recommended. For more information on filament drying, visit our Filament Drying Cover guide.
