Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between the X1 Carbon and the P1P?

A: Both printers have the same chassis, carbon rods, and CoreXY design, making them very fast and stable. The X1 Carbon is a fully enclosed printer with a hardened steel nozzle that can print exotic materials like carbon fibre filament. It also includes a Lidar sensor for bed levelling and error detection. On the other hand, the P1P is a barebones printer with no covers and a stainless steel nozzle. It has a textured PEI sheet for the print bed, a touchpoint auto bed levelling system, and no filtration system. While both printers have similar print quality and speed, the X1 Carbon is better suited for high-temperature and abrasive materials, while the P1P is more suitable for printing with PLA, PETG or TPU

Q: Can I add an AMS unit to the Bambu Lab Carbon X1?

A: Yes, you can add an Automatic Material System (AMS) unit to your Bambu Lab Carbon X1 printer at a later stage (with a maximum of up to 4 units with the capability to print in 16 colours). The AMS is a small unit that sits on top of the X1 and feeds four rolls of filament into it. It allows you to print a single model with four different colours or to use different materials in the same build.

SATISFIED CUSTOMER

By: on 28 February 2023
As a satisfied user, I wanted to share my honest thoughts about the Bambu Lab 3D X1 Carbon printer. Having used it for two weeks and gone through 20kg of filament, I can confidently say that this machine is a game changer in the world of domestic FDM printing. While Prusa and Creality have been dominating this space, Bambu Lab has managed to bridge the gap between domestic and professional printing, coming close to competing with brands like Ultimaker, but at a more affordable price. The printer is well-built, with high-quality finishes and advanced technology, and the customer service and technical support provided by Bambu Lab have been excellent. However, there is one major issue that needs to be addressed: the packaging. While the printer itself is well-packaged, there is no protection around the machine to prevent direct hits to its sides or its most sensitive part, the glass door. This resulted in shattered glass and silicate powder getting into the machine's sensitive areas such as fans and power supply. I reached out to Bambu Lab and 3D Printer Gear to explain the situation, and they promptly advised me not to use the machine as a precautionary measure and sent me a brand new one. Overall, I highly recommend the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon 3D printer, but I caution potential buyers to be aware of the packaging issue and take appropriate precautions to avoid any damage during shipping.
