Formlabs Clear Resin V5 (Form 4)

An exceptionally clear, color-neutral General Purpose Resin for transparent prototypes and functional parts — fast, accurate, stiff & strong, and polishable to near optical transparency.

Formlabs Clear Resin V5 cartridge
Application: Transparent / General Purpose
Technology: SLA
Colour: Clear (colour-neutral)
Version: V5
Compatible: Form 4 Series

Note: For best clarity, follow the recommended wash + dry workflow, then sand/polish (and optionally clear-coat). Post-curing is optional for General Purpose resins, but recommended to reduce tack and improve properties.

High-clarity, colourless parts that can be polished to near optical transparency

Clear Resin V5 is an exceptionally clear and color-neutral resin formulated for the Form 4 ecosystem — balancing fast print speed, high dimensional accuracy, transparency, and strong mechanical performance.

Produce stiff, strong parts with a smooth finish that rivals acrylic — ideal for transparent enclosures, lighting prototypes, internal-feature demo parts, fluidics, and rapid tooling.

Why Choose Formlabs Clear Resin V5?

Superior Clarity (when polished)

Create highly transparent, colourless parts that can be polished to near optical transparency for display-ready prototypes and light-duty optical/lighting concepts.

Highest Dimensional Accuracy

Achieve precise tolerances and fine features for clean, professional parts that rival injection-moulded finishes.

Stiff & Strong

Balanced mechanical properties for functional housings, enclosures, jigs, fixtures, fluidic devices, and rapid tooling masters.

Faster V5 Formulation

Optimised for the Form 4 ecosystem to deliver significantly faster print speeds versus earlier Clear resin formulations, with improved clarity, colour, and performance.

Applications

Clear Resin V5 is designed for transparent applications where you need a clean finish, reliable accuracy, and strong, stiff parts that can be polished for high-clarity results.

Consider Clear Resin for:

  • Transparent enclosures, optical components, and lighting prototypes
  • Parts showcasing internal features (flow paths, mechanisms, assemblies)
  • Molds, masters, and other rapid tooling
  • Fluidic devices and transparent channels

Finish tip: Sand through progressively finer grits, then polish (and optionally clear-coat) to maximise light transmission and clarity.

Workflow Overview

Clear Resin V5 is a print + wash + dry workflow, with optional post-curing. To maximise clarity, plan on finishing (sand + polish) after cleaning.

  • Print using the recommended preset for your compatible Form 4 Series printer and selected layer thickness.
  • Wash for the recommended duration using IPA (≥99%) or Formlabs Resin Washing Solution.
  • Dry thoroughly (Formlabs recommends allowing parts to air dry for at least 10 minutes after washing for best surface finish).
  • Optional post-cure to reduce tack and increase strength/heat resistance (e.g., 5 min ambient vs 15 min at 60 °C depending on curing unit/profile).
  • Finish & polish for best transparency (progressive sanding + polishing; optional clear coat for an even glossier finish).

FAQ

1) What is Clear Resin V5 best for?

Transparent enclosures, lighting prototypes, parts that showcase internal features, fluidic devices, and rapid tooling masters — where you want a clear finish plus strong, stiff performance.

2) How do I get the clearest finish?

Wash and dry thoroughly, then sand through progressively finer grits and polish. Clear Resin V5 can be polished to near optical transparency.

3) Do I need post-curing?

Post-curing is optional for General Purpose resins, but recommended to reduce surface tack and improve properties. For validated times/temperatures (based on your Form Cure model), follow the Technical Data Sheet.

4) What layer heights are supported on the Form 4 Series?

Validated layer heights include 100 µm, 50 µm, and 25 µm on compatible Form 4 Series printers (see TDS for details).
