Formlabs Form Wash (2nd Generation)
Fast, hands-free cleaning for resin prints — powerful agitation, flexible solvent volume, and automatic lift-out drying for consistently clean parts with less mess and less babysitting.
Fast wash cycles: Typical wash time can be as quick as 10 minutes with fresh IPA.
Flexible solvent volume: Adjustable fills in the 7–15 L range help reduce solvent use for smaller prints.
Longer solvent life: Designed to wash more parts per refill with regular use (compared to the previous generation).
- Automatic lift-out drying helps prevent over-soaked parts and reduces handling mess
- Powerful agitation helps clean supports, text, channels, and detailed geometry
- Wash on the build platform or remove parts into the included wash basket
- Compatible with a variety of solvents depending on your workflow and safety needs
How Form Wash Works
Form Wash removes uncured resin from printed parts by soaking and agitating them in solvent. Once the timed cycle completes, the platform or basket is automatically raised above the solvent so parts can air dry — reducing drips, fumes, and handling.
From print to clean parts
- Load: Move the build platform straight from the printer into Form Wash, or remove parts into the wash basket.
- Set time: Choose a wash duration based on resin + solvent freshness (e.g., 10 minutes is common with fresh IPA).
- Wash: Parts are thoroughly agitated to clean fine detail and internal geometry.
- Dry: When the cycle ends, parts lift out automatically to air dry above the solvent.
Flexible Solvent Volume
Use lower solvent volumes for small parts to reduce solvent consumption and improve efficiency, or fill higher when washing full build platforms and larger parts. Adjustable platform mounts help you tune the setup to your printer platform and preferred fill level.
- Typical flexible solvent volumes: 7–15 L
- Bucket volume: 14.4 L
Powerful Agitation for Thorough Cleaning
Form Wash uses an impeller-based agitation system to move solvent around the part — helping flush resin out of fine detail, text, lattices, and support contact areas so parts come out cleaner and more consistent than hand-washing.
- Agitation method: Magnetically coupled impeller
- Maximum part size: 20 × 14.5 × 19.5 cm
Compatible with Multiple Build Platforms
Wash parts directly on the build platform to reduce handling and mess. Adjustable mounts allow Form Wash (2nd Gen) to accommodate different Formlabs build platforms (including Form 4/4B, Form 3/3B, and Form 2 platforms).
Printer compatibility: Form 4, Form 4B, Form 3/+, Form 3B/+, Form 2
Compatible with a Variety of Solvents
For best cleaning performance, IPA is commonly recommended. Depending on your environment and safety requirements, Form Wash also supports alternative solvent options.
- Compatible solvents: Formlabs Resin Washing Solution, IPA, TPM, Water
- Default wash time (fresh IPA): 10 minutes

FAQ
1) Do I need to remove parts from the build platform before washing?
Not necessarily. You can wash parts directly on the build platform to reduce handling, or remove parts and place them in the wash basket.
2) What solvent should I use?
IPA is commonly used for strong cleaning performance. Depending on your workflow and safety needs, alternative solvents (including TPM and Formlabs Resin Washing Solution) are also supported.
3) What happens when the wash cycle finishes?
The platform or basket is automatically raised above the solvent so parts can air dry, helping reduce drips and over-soaking.
4) How do I choose wash time?
Wash time depends on the resin, geometry, and solvent freshness. Many workflows start around 10 minutes with fresh IPA and adjust as needed.
5) Do I still need to cure parts after washing?
In most resin workflows, yes — washing removes uncured resin, and post-curing finalises material properties. If you want, we can recommend the right cure unit and settings for your resin lineup.
6) What’s the easiest way to spec the right setup?
Tell us your printer model, resin types, and how many parts you run per week. We’ll recommend the right wash + cure workflow, consumables, and spares.
