Form Studio 1 is the first affordable, professional-grade resin 3D printer from Formlabs. It runs a powerful, long-lasting print engine built on the same Low Force Display (LFD) architecture as the Form 4, updated for this printer, and it is open to any 405 nm resin.

The Basic Package includes the printer, a Form Studio 1 Resin Tank and the aluminium Build Platform, so you can print from day one.

The launch run of Form Studio 1 is the Founders Edition, built to reward early customers. It is available until 30 November 2026 or while stock lasts, after which the standard Basic and Flex packages take over. The Basic Package Founders Edition is $1,528.74 inc GST.

Engineered for speed

 

Print time stays the same whether you print one part or a full build platform, and most parts finish in under two hours. Three pieces of the print engine make that possible.

Backlight Unit
A custom lens array and 28 LEDs produce a uniform, highly collimated light field, delivering 6 mW/cm² at the print plane to cure resin quickly, evenly and accurately.
Release Texture V2
A textured lens array lets air flow between the light processing unit and the film, reducing suction forces and increasing print speed.
Resin Tank film
A durable, highly oxygen-permeable film creates a thin inhibition zone where resin stays uncured, which increases speed and reduces the supports you need.
Five control systems
Temperature, resin level, print force and print status are monitored on every job, with a built-in camera for remote checks and time-lapses.

Form Studio 1 paired with Alpha Resins and the VOC Extractor is the first and only resin 3D printing system certified UL GREENGUARD Gold for low chemical emissions, an independently tested standard used for schools, offices and homes.

Low VOC, low odour
Alpha Resins use only low-odour chemicals and emit few VOCs, for a more pleasant print environment.
Skin-safe parts
Printed and post-processed parts meet ISO 10993 for long-term (more than 30 day) skin contact, and are non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and non-sensitising.
Vetted ingredients
No chemicals with known acute toxicity or known long-term effects on organ or reproductive health.
Measured, not claimed
In sealed-chamber testing, Form Studio 1 with the VOC Extractor peaked at 0.66 mg/m³ TVOC after four hours, against 1.70 without it and 4.21 for a competitor printer.

Automatic resin handling and an open platform

 

Resin dispenses automatically from a sealed cartridge, and swapping materials takes under a minute with no gloves. Form Studio 1 launches with the Alpha Resin family, made for this printer, and every supported material comes with validated print settings.

Form Studio 1 also runs Tough 1500 Resin V2, Flexible 80A Resin V2 and True Cast Resin. Third-party 405 nm resins are supported through the included Open Material Mode, which needs the Resin Tank Pro. Alpha Resins run only on Form Studio 1 and are not compatible with Form 4 generation printers.

Free PreForm software orients, supports and slices your model with validated settings for each resin.
Step 2
Wash
Form Studio Wash+Cure agitates IPA, TPM or Resin Washing Solution around your parts, then lifts them out to dry.
Step 3
Cure
Drop in the glass turntable and cure under 405 nm light for stronger, tougher, less tacky parts.
